Bookcliff Vinyards wines are made and aged in a hand-dug cellar under John Garlich’s home in Boulder. His grapes come from vineyards near the Colorado River under the Bookcliff escarpment near Palisade. Most of Garlich’s wines are barrel-aged, the best-known being a red varietal blend and his white Viognier. The winery also produces Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Orange Muscat and Black Muscat Port.
For tasting and purchases, you will find Bookclif Vineyards wines at the Belvedere Belgian Chocolate Shop and at Parkers Farmers Market in Boulder, and at the Chocolate Moose in Glenwood.
Boulder Creek Winery produces “classic style” varietal wines including Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Cabernet Franc plus a bend of premium red grape varieties. The hospitable tasting room is open daily from April to December.
Augustina's Winery is one block north of the Yarmouth/North Broadway junction. It’s on the south side of the building behind the greenhouse. Gussie Walter is the winemaker, hostess and salesperson. She makes award-winning wines with names like Wine Chick Red, Wine Chick White and Joi De Vino Chardonnay. Winery tours and tasting are seasonal and by appointment.
Redstone Meadery is a producer of honey wine called mead. The meadery offers a range of wold class mead, from 8 percent alcohol nectars, available in draft and bottles, to Mountain Honey Wines of 12 percent alcohol content that run from sweet to dry. There is also a Reserve series of mead which is sweet, dense, heavy and port-like. All Redstone meads are fermented naturally with out adding sulfites. Winery tours are Monday thru Friday at 1 and 3 pm; Saturdays at 12.30 pm. The tasting room is open from noon to 6:30 pm Monday thru Friday and Saturdays noon to 5 pm.
