Grafton has been one of Worcestershire's foremost historic houses since its foundation before the Norman conquest. For centuries the home of powerful nobles who held sway over England's fortunes, in 1980 it was opened as a luxury hotel by the present owners.
Now The Lord of Grafton, John Morris and his wife June have made Grafton Manor one of the outstanding hotel enterprises in Britain. The materials with which they have built their success were admittedly out of the ordinary: a magnificent honey-coloured Elizabethan house, 26 acres of gardens and grounds which include a 15th century private chapel and a private lake, glorious period interiors. Yet much painstaking restoration work was required to introduce modern comforts throughout the hotel without tarnishing the splendour of Grafton's past. This has been achieved with notable success in the 9 guest bedrooms, in which a perfect marriage of historic detail and modern convenience has been achieved. Focal point of the house is the magnificent 17th century dining room, in which chef Simon Morris serves imaginative dishes fit to grace their elegant setting accompanied by a fine wine list.
Grafton Manor particularly specialises in spectacularly memorable weddings. The combination of exclusive use of a gloriously tranquil setting, superb catering, and the friendly and attentive staff's anticipation of every need ensure a day that will live in the memory long after the last firework has exploded over the lake.
