Winter under the palms and that in the middle of Germany? A winter holiday in this country need not automatically mean hot glohwein, Christmas markets, and snow. When itos cold and wet outside, it can be anything but on the inside, even tropical. Center-Parcs, for example, have holiday landscapes with a Mediterranean flair. Our next stop is the Wilhelma zoological-botanical gardens in Stuttgart. King Wilhelm, I, had the beautiful park and its buildings designed in the Moorish style, to resemble the Alhambra in Granada. Considering again what the weather is typically like in the state of Baden-Worttemberg during the winter, it is little wonder that one of the garden's most popular attractions is the new Amazonashaus.
Here, visitors will discover a miniature Amazonian rain forest, with the temperature held at a warm 28 degrees Celcius. Finally, we pay a visit to a big-city jungle of a sorts in the form of the Botanical Gardens in Berlin. The variety and numbers of plants on display are enormous, including many types of cactii normally only found in much warmer climates.
