Youth and beauty, not to mention the latest trends in fashion, are everywhere in Germany's design capital. Here in Dusseldorf, fashion "made in Germany" is created, sold and seen on the streets - not only at the numerous fashion shows held here every year, but also every day on the K, Germany's best-known and most exclusive shopping promenade. This is where world-famous designers present their creations, and where the best-dressed show off their latest purchases.
Near the harbor-turned-media center, featuring buildings by star architect Frank O'Gehry, there's a new "beach", "Monkey's Biergarten" has imported sand dunes to the banks of the Rhine, and the daily beach party is THE place to be seen. Just a little further on and quite a bit less chic is the man who guards the gates of the city - a Neanderthal whose bones were discovered on this site in 1856. An interactive museum explains the importance of the find, as well as giving insights into the development of our species.
