There are many different kinds of holidays available here in Germany, but this week we wanted to have a look at hotels that offer something extraordinary to their guests. To begin, we visit Pflaums Posthotel, the world's first art- and design hotel, which is located in Franconian Pegnitz. Guests can choose between accommodations decorated in modern avant-garde or those furnished in traditional elegance, with costly antiques. Next, we travel to the Schlosshotel Elmau.
In the foreground here is the philosophy propounded by Rudolf Steiner called anthroposophy, which emphasizes peace and relaxation, set amid the beautiful Upper Bavarian landscape in which the hotel is located. This hotel also has its own concert hall where guests are regularly treated to concerts featuring first class classical music.
Finally, we visit Hamburg's harbor, and Das Feuerschiff, a former English fire ship a vessel filled with explosives and combustibles intended to destroy other ships or constructions that has been converted into an exclusive set of living quarters for guests. With only five rooms, Das Feuerschiff is a small maritime masterpiece.
