Algarve -- St.
Bras de Alportei Regional Pousada
Spring Festival and Great Outdoor Fun Sets
the Alportei Apart for Adventure Travelers
The first Pousada to be built in the Algarve and
the second in Portugal is St. Bras de Alportei, about a half hour
from the Algarve coast and the Faro airport. In addition to its
ideal location apart from the crowded beach resorts, the Alportei
puts visitors close to golf courses, water sports, canoeing, river
cruises, and horseback riding. Guests are welcome to horses for
riding and four-wheel driving fun right on the estate; and a shooting
range, gymnasium, and printing facility are nearby.
Spring is an ideal time to plan a holiday stay,
as the Pousada hosts the Aleluia festival on Easter Sunday. In nearby
Loule, Carnival -- a colorful Portuguese event -- is held in March.
Summer visitors venture to Olhao in August for the Seafood Festival.
The Alportei's fine staff also arranges special seasonal tours for
their guests.
Leisure lovers enjoy the swimming pool and tennis
court. The first-class restaurant of the St. Bras de Alportei features
a regional menu of clams or cockles with lemon juice and coriander
appetizer, seafood rice or road kid with rosemary entrées,
and almond tart dessert.
